Background
Today we are facing a critical time in history, with the world seeing the largest generation of young people ever – 1.8. Billion. From the outset of his mandate, the United Nations Secretary-General Antonio Guterres has made it a priority for the UN System to reset its focus on youth and to reorient and mainstream its activities towards youth.
China has a youth population of 439 million, amounts to 32% of the total population, hosts the second largest cohort of young people in the world. Living in an increasingly globalized and interconnected world, youth in China have on one hand unprecedented opportunities, yet on the other hand faces challenges due to being young. Youth, particularly marginalized or vulnerable youth, face limited access to resources, education as well as social, economic and political opportunities.
Align with the UNDP Youth Strategy, UNDP China aims to support youth development as a major contribution to sustainable development. To create an inclusive and enabling environment for empowering youth in achieving SDGs, UNDP China and their counterparts are implementing a multi-year Youth Project to empower youth in achieving SDGs from all levels through leadership, innovation and entrepreneurship.
Working with government institutions, private sectors and youth organizations, the intern will support UNDP China Youth team to organize and implement the relavant youth events at the national level.
Duties and Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the Sustainable Development Team Leader and the Youth Development Specialist, the Intern will undertake the following tasks:
1、Assist with the organization of youth events, such as the National Dialogue follow-ups and the Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth；
2、Provide logistical support to Asia-Pacific Forum on Youth including finance and procurement；
3、Provide administrative support to partner meetings such as meeting munites taking；
4、Coordinate the production of the event documents (e.g. logistics note, concept note, draft participants list, event invitations, relevant background materials) in both Chinese and English；
5、Support the implementation of a communication strategy for the events；
6、Travel to project sites to provide on-site logistic and administrative support during the events Perform other tasks as may be assigned by Youth Development Specialist；

Required Skills and Experience
· Current postgraduate student or have graduated with a university degree within a year in public policy, governance, law, development management, political science, media, marketing or relevant discipline;
· Prior experiences in youth event management or experiences with youth or student organizations are preferred;
· Passionate about youth development and social, economic and political empowerment for youth.
· Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills;
· Advanced command of English and Chinese use;
· Proficient skills in Microsoft office applications;
